Joe Alameno, product manager for forming
systems for Handtmann, said that speed, accuracy,
automation and easy integration with other
processing systems are the main ways the company's
full line of Handtmann patty forming
equipment has evolved.
" For instance, the newest Handtmann Rotary
Cutting System for patties was developed to deliver
the new speeds processors were asking for, " he
said. " It also delivers gram-accurate patties and
integrates simply with downstream loading systems
to create fully automated high-speed lines. "
He added that different modular Handtmann
forming technologies and its integrated patty
forming solutions all deliver exact portions with
gentle product handling that also provides a distinct
advantage by reducing waste and maintaining
ingredient integrity that is especially valuable
when using expensive raw materials.

With maintenance and parts costs, the ruggedness
and dependability of equipment is important.

" So are cost saving maintenance options like
the 30-minute resolution of most issues with
interactive virtual support like Handtmann
HVISION remote service, " McGady said. " With
more operations on additional shifts, rapid
response with parts and longer office hours have
also been appreciated by our ground meat and
patty customers. "
Maintenance was a big factor in Provisur's
design of its new systems, as typical maintenance
is ΒΌ of a traditional slide plate former.
Every machine from Reiser comes with a
manual that outlines the preventative maintenance,
including a regular maintenance schedule
with instructions for which parts need to be
replaced at certain intervals of running hours, for
example after 2,000 hours or 3,000 hours and so
on. Additionally, the company provides in-depth
training at the customer's plant for their operations,
maintenance, sanitation, supervisor and
management teams.
" Following those guidelines will prolong the
longevity of the machine and reduce the maintenance
cost of the equipment, " Freiberg said.
All of the patty forming equipment in the marketplace
can create patties, but bringing in new
equipment keeps business strong.
" Today, customers tell us, besides meeting
volume and other basic performance needs,
what is most important to them is the ability to
adapt solutions to very specific needs, the cost
of ownership, the responsiveness of service, and
maybe most importantly, their trust that the supplier
will be up front with them in the most difficult
circumstances - and be there when most
needed, " McGady said.
