PERDUE FARMS ACQUIRES
PANORAMA MEATS
Perdue Premium Meat Co. Inc., a
subsidiary of Perdue Farms, has
reached an agreement to acquire
Panorama Meats, the nation's largest
producer of 100 percent grass-fed and
grass-finished certified organic beef.
Financial terms of the transaction were
not disclosed.
Headquartered in Woodland,
California, Panorama comprises
nearly 50 independent family ranchers
who raise cattle across seven states:
California, Colorado, Montana,
Nebraska, Oregon, South Dakota and
Wisconsin. The company was founded
in 2002.
The Panorama brand will join a
growing list of sustainable premium
meat companies within Perdue Farms,
including Niman Ranch, Coleman
Natural, Prairie Grove and Sioux-Preme
Packing Co.

leader in US grass-fed and finished beef
into our family of specialty brands,"
said Jeff Tripician, who was hired as
president of Perdue Premium Meat
Co. in March. "As the premium meat
division of Perdue Foods grows with

will have greater trust in their meat
choices. Panorama's experienced
team has proven since their launch in
2002 to be savvy business leaders who

providing economic opportunities for
family ranchers. Perdue Premium Meat
Co. specifically identified Panorama
as a perfect fit to enter the organic
grass-finished business and will
do everything we can to help them
continue to thrive."
Perdue said Panorama will remain
in Woodland and continue to be led by
Lori Carrion, CEO.

NORTH COUNTRY EXPANDS
LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS
As part of the company's commitment
to continue collaborating with local
companies to create its products,
officials with North Country
Smokehouse, a subsidiary of Canada's
duBreton, announced the launch of two
new sausages with local ties. Bostonbased Harpoon Brewery worked with
North Country to create its Harpoon
IPA Beer Bratwurst, while South
Woodstock-based Vermont Farmstead
Cheese Co. created the cheese used in
the new Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage.
The bratwurst is available in 12-oz.
packages and features the spices and
flavor that have garnered Harpoon IPA

awards for its caraway and marjoram
accented brew. 
Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder
of Harpoon Brewery, said, "We've been
pairing great beer with great social
occasions for years, so working with
North Country on something that
would bring people together around a
grill or table was the natural - no pun
intended - next step."
Vermont Farmstead created a
cheddar cheese with jalapeño spice
to provide North Country with a
creamy flavor for its new sausage, also
available in 12-oz. packages.

producing handcrafted foods," said
Kent Underwood, president of Vermont
Farmstead Cheese Co. "We know that
consumers will be able to taste the
difference with our custom-crafted
cheddar that pairs perfectly with the
spicy jalapeño in this new sausage."
The products are available at
Hannaford Supermarkets and Whole
Foods Market stores in the Northeast.

JACK LINK'S INTRODUCES
ZERO-SUGAR JERKY
Jack Link's Protein Snack released its
latest product named Zero Sugar Jerky.
The meat snack features the same beef
from original Jack Link's Jerky along
with no preservatives, no MSG, no
added nitrates and no added sugar. Each
bag also features 30 grams of protein.
"Jack Link's new Zero Sugar protein
snack cuts sugar, not corners," said
Tom "TD" Dixon, chief marketing
officer at Jack Link's. "Consumers have
been asking us for a no-sugar option,
and as makers of the Original Protein,
we're proud to meet that demand with
an option that's still an excellent source
