Tyson to expand Wright
Brand Bacon plant
Tyson Foods Inc. is starting 2021 with
a capital improvement project that will
increase production of its Wright Brand
Bacon brand. The company announced an
investment of $26 million toward an expansion of the Vernon, Texas, bacon processing plant where the iconic bacon is made.
The project is scheduled for completion
by March of 2021 and is expected to create
32 new jobs, bringing total employment at
the plant to more than 800 people.
" This project is great news for our
plant, our community and our customers, "
said Dane Bonfy, plant manager. " We love
the Vernon community and look forward
to growing our team with the additional
positions and meeting the growing demand
for our products. "
Tyson expects the expansion to meet
current demand while allowing room for

additional growth. The bacon category
has seen volume growth, up 18% since
2017, the company said. Wright Brand
Bacon production volume surpassed
category growth during this same time
period by 29%.
" We're pleased we can continue to
build on the proud heritage of this iconic
and delicious brand, " said Noelle O'Mara,
group president of Prepared Foods. " More
importantly, we've had a strong presence
in Vernon for nearly 100 years as one of the
largest employers. It's an honor to continue
that long history by adding new jobs in the
local community. "
The Wright Brand is known for its hand
trimmed and thick-cut, wood-smoked
bacon available in hickory smoked,
applewood smoked, double smoke and
maple flavors.

design at restaurants worldwide in the
next few years.

Volpi Foods announced
on Dec. 24, 2020, that
Master Salumiere
Armando Pasetti, the
chief emeritus officer of
the company, died at the
age of 96.
Pasetti arrived in
St. Louis at the age of
14 from Milan, Italy, to
work at Volpi Foods for
his uncle and company
founder John Volpi.
Pasetti led Volpi Foods
from 1958 to 2002 and
eventually grew the
brand to have national
distribution.
" We are deeply
saddened to announce
the passing of my father,
Armando Pasetti, "
said Lorenza Pasetti,
Armando's daughter and
chief executive officer
of Volpi Foods. " He
was a true craftsman
and lived his life with
passion. He welcomed
customers, employees
and neighbors as family
to our Volpi shop. If you
met Armando at the
store, his warm caring
spirit filled the room and
will continue to do so. "
Armando took over
as head of the company
following the passing of
John Volpi.
" He loved hearing
customers' stories of
enjoying Volpi Foods'
products at home with
their families, " the
company said.
Volpi Foods is a
family owned producer
of specialty cured meats
since 1902.

Burger King

Sixty-something may be the new
50-something, but Burger King (founded
in 1954) describes its first brand refresh in
20 years as a thoroughly modern symbol
of the company's commitment to digitalfirst expression.
The company started 2021 with
a completely new visual design that
customers will see throughout all
touchpoints of the guest experience - a
new brand logo, packaging, restaurant
merchandise, menu boards, crew
uniforms, restaurant signage and d├ęcor,
social media and digital and marketing
assets. Dialing up taste and quality
through design is Burger King's strategy
of signaling to consumers recent
improvements to taste and food quality
through the removal of colors, flavors, and
preservatives from artificial sources from
its menu items. The brand refresh also
gives a nod to the company's pledge to
environmental sustainability.
