Checkweigher
Thompson Scale Co.'s new TSC
350 16x Checkweigher is capable of
weighing, classifying, and rejecting
up to 16 items simultaneously for
quality control in packaging. It is a
drag chain-style scale designed for
large quantity weighing in high production packaging lines. Two strands
of Nylatron flat-link chain convey
product across the weighing portion of
each scale. Designed for in-motion, it
can weigh rigid, semi-rigid, and stable
products weighing from 5 grams to 10
kilograms. It can weigh up to 5,600
units per minute, with accuracies of
up to +/- 0.5 gram. The TSC 350 16x
can be configured to handle virtually

Vacuum packaging

Ultravac Solutions LLC, a new distributor of vacuum packaging pouches and
consumables, is targeting its products
to processors of meat, poultry and seafood. Ultravac Solutions' optimal cast
film products offer clarity and highgloss features as well as uniformity in
its gauge of thickness. Its new, alternative cast film vacuum packaging products maintain sealing integrity, strength
and durability for stronger, leak-proof
barrier packaging.
The pouches are manufactured using a cast film coextrusion process in
which a die forms the extruded hotmelt into a flat film web that is quickly
solidified on a cooled roll. The result
of the fast quench/solidification process is a product of exceptional optical qualities and consistent uniformity
among other blown film products. The
coextrusion process improves the molecular bond properties of the film,
which ensures the vacuum pouches
and consumables are durable and
abrasion/tear resistant. Ultravac Solutions, a division of Koch Equipment
