An O.E.M. that is very interested
in the new belt from Mol Industries
is Tampa, Fla.-based NeXtconveyor,
which was founded in 1999 as Material Systems Engineering.. Dan Karpy,
president of NeXtconveyor Corp., says
he is interested in the Mol belt because
it is one of the more sanitary belts on
the market, and this fits with its conveyor.
NeXtconveyor's conveyors feature
an open-frame construction. "We recognized right off the bat that nobody
was making a truly sanitary conveyor,"
he recalls, regarding the startup of the
company. "Everyone was making what
they call a washdown conveyor where
everything was stainless. They were
calling them sanitary, but they really
weren't. The big key to being sanitary
is having accessibility."
"One of the biggest expenses in
plants are chemicals, labor and then
water and wastewater generation when
doing sanitizing, so our goal was to
come up with a conveyor design that
would solve that and reduce the cost
while providing a more sanitary conveyor than what was out there." he continues. Karpy said he got the inspiration for the open-frame conveyor while
riding a steel roller coaster at Busch
Gardens. "I got my inspiration right at
the top of the hill. I looked out and said
